HGOR was one of three firms engaged to create a vision of the new city of Cangzhou. HGOR was asked to explore a three kilometer square area to define and illustrate a defining concept which could be extrapolated to the complete city.
The plan addresses urban forms, land use requirements, sustainability, transportation, character and scale. The HGOR evolution draws upon the concept of a “tapestry” or weaving together of these elements to provide a comprehensive urban experience. The tapestry is derived from both pure art form and a response to the tapestry of existing farm fields in the region.
The resulting plan purposefully identifies opportunities for key iconic architectural elements, secondary structures and supporting buildings. This approach accommodates both a marriage between architecture and urban design and allows for a logical progression of development.
