Franklin Ranch
Franklin Ranch
Franklin Ranch Community Park is a successful 82-acre transformation of Texas farmland into a community destination. HGOR was selected by the people of Franklin not only to design a high-quality sports facility with associated amenities but also to drive an assortment of recreational programming that is supportive of the surrounding area.
First steps involved leading a series of charrettes to gather input and gain consensus on the evolution of an initial sports complex design into a multi-amenity community park. Working under a three and a half month schedule, HGOR designed all aspects of the park, coordinated with the local municipality, maintained and monitored project team momentum, and developed unique stormwater solutions that allowed the Client to re-direct hundreds of thousands of dollars to more visible and usable aspects of the park. As prime consultant, HGOR assisted FIELDS in interviewing key sub-contractors and provided valuable engineering advice throughout the design and construction process.
The park features six baseball/softball fields and one multi-purpose space that can serve as two full-sized football or soccer fields. Amenities include two pavilions, a splash pad, an amphitheater, three concession stands with restrooms, and nine miles of walking trails. The park also has a fishing lake and fishing shack, an outdoor education center, and several playgrounds and large, open greenspaces. Completed in 2012, the final design embraces the serene local landscape and embodies a park in the truest sense of the word.
