Lake Avondale

Avondale Estates’ goal for this park renovation project was to create a permeable trail that would also be durable enough to withstand high traffic around the five-acre lake used for passive recreation in the heart of the city. HGOR's other challenge was to repair the shoreline, which had been eroding away for years.

The three-step solution included grading a gentler slope to the water's edge to allow better access, stabilizing much of the top of the slope with large weathered boulders, and planting the remainder of the edge with native aquatics. This last measure will also help create a habitat for the lake wildlife.
