Rosa Parks Square

Despite heightened cultural and civic importance to the citizens of Macon, Rosa Parks Square stands today as an underutilized and underappreciated urban landscape. HGOR led a diverse set of stakeholders in a process to define significant improvements and creation of place - all while maintaining the appropriate level of decorum and respect desired by all. Clear understanding of concerns and goals established through both open dialogue and a listening ear led to the adoption of a concept design and direction for the park’s development.

This process also shed light on the importance of not only designing Rosa Parks Square correctly but also preparing it for successful implementation. Engagement and conceptual design services were completed in October 2017. The final product creates a public venue where the vision and ethos for this park will take shape.
